Dr.Graham's Homes School remain closed
The Gorkhaland issue, which started back in 1987 has resurfaced in the hill station of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. After the failed assassination attempt of the leader of GNLF (Gorkha National Liberation Front) Subhas Ghising, the situation in the hill stations have taken an uncertain future. There has been several arrests made by the police with regards assassination attempt. The quiet and peaceful hill station is now on indefinite strike, closing all schools and all businesses in the area. The schools have remained closed for one week now and there is no sign of the strike being lifted. The foreign students in all the school including the Homes have been given the permission to go home. Dr. Grahams Homes remains closed and will continue to do so until the situation does not improve. The date of re-opening of the school has not been confirmed.
